Arccos needs to run in the background to properly track your location and function during a round. However, some Android devices may restrict background activity for apps automatically. Here’s how to ensure Arccos Caddie stays active in the background.
Why Is This Happening?
Some Android manufacturers put apps on a “sleeping” list or restrict background usage if the app hasn't been used recently. This can prevent Arccos Caddie from functioning correctly.
How to Allow Arccos Caddie to Run in the Background
Samsung Devices - Android 11
- Open Settings (not in the Arccos Caddie app).
- Tap Battery and device care.
- Select Battery.
- Tap Background usage limits.
-
Check the Sleeping apps and Deep sleeping apps lists.
- If Arccos Caddie is in either list, tap the 3 dots in the top-right corner, select Edit apps, uncheck Arccos Caddie, and tap Remove.
- Optionally, add Arccos Caddie to the Never sleeping apps list to prevent it from being added to this list in the future.
-
If the app isn’t in either list, go back to Settings, then:
- Tap Apps > Arccos Caddie > Battery.
- Ensure that Allow background activity is checked.
Samsung Devices - Android 10
- Open Settings (not in the Arccos Caddie app).
- Tap Device Care.
- Select Battery > App Power Management.
-
Check the Sleeping apps and Deep sleeping apps lists for Arccos Caddie.
- If it's listed, tap the 3 dots in the top-right corner, select Edit apps, uncheck Arccos Caddie, and tap Remove.
- Optionally, add Arccos Caddie to the Never sleeping apps list.
-
If Arccos Caddie isn’t in either list:
- Tap Apps > Arccos Caddie > Battery.
- Ensure Allow background activity is checked.
Other Android Manufacturers
- Open Settings and go to Battery (this may be under Advanced settings).
-
Tap Battery and check if there is an option for Background restricted.
- If Restricted, tap the Background restricted option and remove the restriction.
