What Are Approach Game Levers and Dispersions?

Approach Game Levers

Levers are the specific factors within your approach game that have the most impact on your Strokes Gained — Approach number. Rather than just showing you a single SG figure, levers break down why your approach game is performing the way it is.

For example, a lever might identify that you're losing strokes primarily on approach shots from 125–150 yards, or that shots from the rough are significantly worse than shots from the fairway. Each lever represents a concrete, targeted area where improvement would move the needle on your overall game.

Approach Dispersions

Approach dispersion is a visual representation of where your approach shots land relative to the target. It shows the spread of your shots — how consistent you are with distance control and direction.

The dispersion chart is displayed on the Clubs page for each individual club. It uses a top-down overhead view where each dot represents a shot. Green dots are shots that performed well; gray dots are neutral; red dots represent outliers or poor outcomes.

A tighter dispersion pattern means you're more consistent with that club. A wider pattern shows more variability in your ball striking.

Approach levers and dispersions become more accurate as you track more rounds — keep logging and the picture gets clearer over time.
